I ended up locating a user copy of the installation. And obviously, they don’t allow us to download the older version on the new version machine. But the installer was distributed by App Store.
But how can I obtain that old image of OS X?Īfter browsing around, I learnt that the latest version that can be installed on the machine is OS X El Capitan. The only way I can think of is to have OS X on the USB drive. The machine had OS X Lion 10.7 installed and I can verify that there was nothing wrong with the hardware because I can boot up Windows via Boot Camp and it ran perfectly.
